Dr Chau Chak Wing Building
Designed by Frank Gehry, a complex, sculptural, 14 storey 150 million dollar University building currently under construction.
Arup project BIM manager and chief technician during the entire design phase through to construction. Liaising with design consultants, software developers and BIM managers, Rick has been responsible for the single, integrated, multidiscipline BIM model which is being modelled and managed using Gehry Technologies – Digital Project software. Ricks role includes management, modelling and coordination of the BIM model as well as lead drafter and 2D coordinator. He is currently working as BIM consultant/technician to the contractor in a fulltime position on site.
Johnson Estate Sculpture
4.5 million dollar sandstone sculpture which is was installed in the Botanical Gardens of Sydney. A geometric challenge made up of over 200 unique blocks totalling around 400 tonnes.
Rick was heavily involved in the 3D modelling using Rhinoceros, shop drawing documentation using Revit Structure and AutoCAD as well as management and client liaison.
1 Bligh Street
Modelled and documented a fully integrated BIM project using Revit Structure and Rhinoceros. This included multiple complex structural components including free form roof steelwork, cruciform connections and a helix staircase.
